Visual Storytelling and Animation

This area of study provides technical, story-telling, and design skills to help our students develop as animators, data visualization artists, and designers. Students learn the underlying principles of animation through both foundational work in figure drawing and current digital modeling techniques using industry-standard software. We cover the entire creative pipeline from storyboarding through modeling, animation, and motion graphics. Our approach is deeply informed by an investigation of the methods of storytelling and character design. We teach a wide range of digital media production skills, including animation, imaging, visualization, web, video, modeling, rendering, effects, compositing, and post production. Our alumni have gone on to successful careers in studio animation, motion graphics for television, web content, the performing arts, and corporate communications. This area of study has been consistently recognized for excellence, including a recent ranking by Animation Career Review as the #3 Animation school in New Jersey and #38 nationally among Public Schools and Colleges with Animation programs.
